The Classic of Madonna di Campiglio meets the Italian Capital of Culture during an evening rich in fascinating moments and cooperation. “3Tre doesn’t belong to Madonna di Campiglio, or Trentino: it belongs to the whole Country”
How does alpine ski deal with Palermo? Lot of curiosity raised for the Sicilian stop of 3Tre on Tour, the promotional of the Alpine Ski World Cup Night Slalom scheduled on December, 22 on the Canalone Miramonti slope. However, at the end of the evening on Saturday October, 20 at Mercato Excelsior, the opening question has changed in: why the collaboration with 3Tre didn’t start before?
Palermo has warmly welcomed the longest-established Classic of the World Cup’s Italian calendar, which has contributed with its history - thanks to the support of the historian Paolo Luconi Bisti - to bring sport and ski culture into the 2018 Italian Capital of Culture. “To us, it is a great pleasure to host one of the most important event of the Italian sport scenario - said Leoluca Orlando, Mayor of Palermo - which takes place in an extraordinary area where many Sicilian people love to spend their time. 3Tre is a symbol of sport culture and I hope that our bond could get stronger in the future”.
Daniele Di Gregoli, key organising liaison of the 3Tre landing in Palermo, agrees and also suggests: “what about Palermo and Madonna di Campiglio becoming sister cities?"
Lorenzo Conci, the President of 3Tre Committee, tells that the willingness of promoting the mountain and winter sports to previous and new fans (“at Madonna di Campiglio, and beyond”) is at the base of 3Tre on Tour. “Talking about ski in Palermo - from such a prestigious location - makes us proud. 3Tre has a long and high-profile history and is able to thrill many people, in many places: this was one of the keys of bringing the FIS World Cup back to the Brenta Dolomites. Here in Palermo we’ve been warmly welcomed: we are really looking forward to return the courtesy in Madonna di Campiglio as well.”
“3Tre is a great event which brings our territory and its beauties all around the World. We are honoured and pleased to stage it - declared Michele Cereghini, the Mayor of Pinzolo, - however 3Tre doesn’t only belong to Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo or Trentino: 3Tre is a top-level event of the Italian sport scenario and belongs to the whole Country. This is also one of the main reasons why we are here in Palermo.”
“Our area, Palermo and Sicily have a common element: the culture of hospitality” continues Cereghini “and from this bond many other opportunities could arise in the future.” Said and done: in fact, Pinzolo will donate the Christmas tree to be set in the centre of Palermo in December 2018, while the Mayor of Palermo Orlando suggeted to set up a mega-screen in the city to enjoy 3Tre on December, 22 (first run 3.45PM CET, second run 6.45PM CET).
To conclude, salutations and handshakes have been shared, screen-printed skis with 3Tre logo have been given to Leoluca Orlando, Daniele Di Gregoli and Fabio Corsini, Head of Ceremonial for the Municipality of Palermo, ideas and purposes have been suggested to link Madonna di Campiglio and Palermo. Tonight, a profound and firm friendship was born.
