This Saturday the Campiglio-Brenta Dolomites Skiarea winter season starts as Grosté ski lifts open. In the meantime, “3Tre on Tour” goeslive in Franciacorta (Brescia, Italy) with Ivano Edalini and Pietro Vitalini
Everyone is waiting for 3Tre 2018 to start. Only a month left to the great event scheduled on Saturday, December 22 on Canalone Miramonti slope in Madonna di Campiglio (first run: 3.45PM CET, second run: 6.45 PM CET) and in the “Pearl of Dolomites” it’s definitely winter. The previous natural snowfalls, the amount of scheduled snow produced and the drop in temperature have allowed Funivie Campiglio to announce the opening of the ski lifts in the Campiglio-Brenta Dolomites Skiarea from Saturday, November 24 in the Grosté area, the highest part of the overall ski area.
On Saturday and Sunday, November 24-25 the two Grosté cable cars and the automatic Grosté Express 6-seats chair lift will be working. The non-stop opening will be effective from Saturday, December 1st.
In view of the first ski lovers “invasion” in Madonna di Campiglio, the 3Tre world journey with the “Crystal Globe” goes on – the award given to the FIS World Cup overall winner. After the two presentations in Trentino in Mori and Cles, 3Tre Committee has reached Franciacorta on Thursday, November 22 for another “3Tre on Tour” stage.
The story of the oldest alpine ski competition in Italy has been the main topic during the presentation at Agriturismo Al Roncol in Ome, close to Iseo Lake and Brescia, joined by the President of 3Tre Committee Lorenzo Conci, the representatives of the Italian Winter Sports Federation – Brescia and two former Italian skiers: Ivano Edalini, who won Campiglio 1986 and Pietro Vitalini.
Ivano Edalini, former athlete from Brescia, went through his great achievement journey on Canalone Miramonti, his only World Cup success: “It has been the most beautiful competition, the perfect one. The conditions weren’t simple, however that day I managed to compete directly with Ingemar Stenmark timing. Campiglio is a unique competition, I am very proud of my win there.”
Just with Vitalini, CombiRace partner with his Vitalini Sportswear, 3Tre discussed about the young generation who is going to open the event’s schedule on Saturday, December 22 with the team competition in the morning on FIS 3Tre slope at Cinque Laghi/Patascoss. “To me – Vitalini told – 3Tre doesn’t recall memories as an athlete, as I experienced it briefly as downhill skier. However, this means a lot for ski for 3Tre is top excellence, also from my entrepreneurial point of view: December, 22 will be a new and great day of ski in Madonna di Campiglio.”
Afterwards, 3Tre will really get going with the worldwide champions. The main protagonists are going to be the last editions main athletes: defending champion Marcel Hirscher, who also won in 2012, and his opponent Henrik Kristoffersen, who ranked first in Madonna di Campiglio in 2015 and 2016. Both of them achieved two wins at 3Tre, Hirscher and Kristoffersen are targeting the third win to compete with a former champion, Alberto Tomba, who ranked first in Madonna di Campiglio in 1987, 1988 e 1995.
Many are the “sapper” against Hirscher and Kristoffersen’s plans, including the Italian athletes like Trentino-rooted Stefano Gross, and South-Tyrolean Manfred Moelgg. The expected 17000 people crowd around the Miramonti slope will cheer for them on behalf of the Italian nation who is willing to see the Italian team back on the highest step of the podium as happened 13 years ago with Giorgio Rocca in 2005 and 32 years ago with Edalini: “Our Italian team is not the leading team, but slalom always reserves some surprises. I wish we will see the Italian athletes competing at their best, in slalom and also other disciplines.”
Form his point of view, the President of 3Tre Committee Lorenzo Conci shared his invitation to the audience in Brescia: “As we do every year, we are working hard to give you the best event possible, but 3Tre doesn’t exist without its audience. I wish I see all of you from Brescia, who are very close fans of 3Tre and our winter destination.”
2018 3Tre schedule on Saturday, December 22 unrolls with the first run at 3.45PM CET and the second runa t 6.45PM CET, while between the two runs “3Tre Hour” takes place at Sissi Square and afterwards music and entertainment during “3Tre Party Night”.
