On Tuesday, October 23 the Archeological Site of Paestum is going to host the third stage of the promotional tour of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Night Slalom. The classic Madonna di Campiglio race is going to be held on Saturday, December 22nd
Sport and culture are closer than ever in this year’s “3Tre on Tour”, the promotional tour of the 3Tre FIS World Cup Night Slalom scheduled on Saturday, December 22nd on the Canalone Miramonti slope in Madonna di Campiglio (first run 3.45PM CET, second run 6.45PM CET). After stopping in Forte dei Marmi (Tuscany) and Palermo (Sicily), 3Tre and the "Crystal Globe" (the cup awarded to the FIS World Cup winner) are now heading to Paestum (Campania). Here, Italy’s most historical alpine ski competition will be presented in the Archeological Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998 - on Tuesday, October 23 at 6.30PM CET.
It will be a gathering of authorities, friends and fans in view of the 65th edition of 3Tre, while enjoying a journey into the origins of the event thanks to the videos and exclusive images by Paolo Luconi Bisti, the “historian” of 3Tre. This is at the heart of the evening event in Paestum, just five days before the FIS World Cup traditional opening giant slalom on Sunday, October 28 in Sölden (Austria).
It will also be the occasion for the first clash among the top technical disciplines performers in today’s alpine ski, Austrian Marcel Hirscher (winner of 3Tre in 2012 and 2017) and Norvegian Henrik Kristoffersen (first in Madonna di Campiglio in 2015 and 2016), who dominated on the Canalone Miramonti in the recent years. Both stars will look to equal Alberto Tomba’s three successes in Madonna di Campiglio’s slalom in December: all-time leader Ingermar Stenmark (five wins) remains out of reach for the moment.
Madonna di Campiglio and Paestum, mountain and sea, North and South. It is going to be a fascinating match between two extraordinary locations, an imaginative embrace between two UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Archeological Site in Paestum and Brenta Dolomites, where Madonna di Campiglio is nestled, and UNESCO geoparks like Cilento Vallo Diano Global Geopark and Adamello Brenta Global Geopark.
“For sure, the match between 3Tre and Paestum is unusual, for it is very exciting - Loredana Bonazza, 3Tre Committee Communication Manager and 3Tre on Tour promoter, explains. “The aim of 3Tre on Tour is to get closer to ski lovers and fans, even when they are far from the traditional skiing areas. At Paestum we will meet lot of people who love snow and winter vacations in the ski area of Campiglio-Dolomiti di Brenta."
