The Canalone Miramonti has once again welcomed some of the leading names in Italian alpine skiing. Less than six months before the 73rd 3Tre, scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, the Italian National Alpine Ski Team’s technical disciplines team visited the iconic World Cup slope at the end of a summer training camp held between the Giudicarie area and Madonna di Campiglio. A moment of strong symbolic significance, marking the beginning of the countdown to Italy’s longest-running alpine ski classic.
The Italian athletes chose Trentino for a week of athletic preparation organized by Davide Marchetti, with training sessions taking place at the athletics track in Tione di Trento, the Sports Hall in Bondo, and the facilities in Madonna di Campiglio. Before wrapping up the camp, the athletes made their way to the Canalone Miramonti, one of the most iconic slopes in world skiing, which next December will once again welcome the world’s best slalom specialists for a thrilling World Cup night race.
Among the athletes taking part in the training camp were Olympic silver medallist Giovanni Franzoni, Trentino native Luca De Aliprandini, Filippo Della Vite, Giovanni Borsotti, and the slalom group featuring Alex Vinatzer, Tommaso Sala, Tobias Kastlunger and Tommaso Saccardi. Many of them are expected to be among the protagonists when racing returns to Madonna di Campiglio.
Welcoming the delegation were Massimo Valenti, Board Member of the Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Board and Municipal Councillor of Sella Giudicarie responsible for Tourism and Events; Andrea Busignani, Communications, Marketing and Events Director of the 3Tre Organizing Committee and Councillor for Major Events of the Municipality of Pinzolo; Bruno Felicetti, Director of Funivie Madonna di Campiglio; Franco Bazzoli, Mayor of Sella Giudicarie, together with Matteo Salvadori, Municipal Councillor responsible for Sport; Giorgio Marchetti, President of BIM del Sarca; and Ruben Simoni, President of the Bondo Pro Loco. Their presence confirms the close cooperation between local institutions, lift operators, tourism stakeholders and the Organizing Committee in staging one of the most prestigious events on the international alpine skiing calendar.

Welcoming the Italian team means promoting our territory through sport at the highest level and strengthening the image of a destination capable of offering facilities, services and an ideal environment twelve months a year. The visit to the Canalone Miramonti adds further symbolic value to this experience and reinforces the bond between today’s champions and a slope that has made skiing history,” said Tullio Serafini, President of the Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Board.
“In summer, the Canalone Miramonti reveals a completely different side, surrounded by greenery and the colors of nature. Seeing the Italian athletes here at this time of year allows us to start imagining what will happen in six months, when this slope will be lit up and once again become a World Cup stage. The 3Tre Organizing Committee has been working for months to prepare every detail of the next edition, which this year returns to its historic place in the week before Christmas, a date deeply rooted in the history of our race. On December 23, we want to welcome athletes, teams and spectators with an event worthy of the tradition and international prestige of the 3Tre,” added Lorenzo Conci, President of the 3Tre Organizing Committee.
The road to the World Cup will continue on Tuesday, July 8, when the Canalone Miramonti will host the FIS Summer Inspection, led by Race Director Markus Waldner. The traditional technical and organizational inspection represents one of the key milestones on the way to the 73rd 3Tre, scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, when Madonna di Campiglio will once again take center stage with one of the most prestigious and spectacular slaloms on the entire World Cup circuit.
