After just two editions, the 3Tre faces its first major crisis, threatening the very survival of an event that had only just begun to establish itself on the international skiing scene. Its exclusion from the FIS calendar due to the clash with the Oslo Winter Olympics takes its toll, while financial difficulties add further pressure.
Tensions also emerge within the Organising Committee. Nevertheless, Camillo Rusconi, together with Benedetto Bertamini and Bill Cestari — a young but already highly regarded journalist for Alto Adige — manages to stage the event in San Martino di Castrozza.
Due to a lack of snow, the scheduled downhill is replaced by a giant slalom, won by France’s François Baud. Italy’s Guido Ghedina then claims victory in the slalom, finishing ahead of promising young French skier Adrien Duvillard, before also winning the second giant slalom. Ghedina’s outstanding performance earns him victory in the overall standings as well.
