It is the year of Cortina Winter Olympics. Toni Sailer, perhaps still distracted by the magnitude of his Olympic triumphs — three gold medals in all three alpine skiing events, a legendary achievement — is outperformed by his fellow Austrian Ernst Hinterseer.
The Kitzbühel skier also claims victory in the overall standings, which see two brothers from Madonna di Campiglio, Bruno and Gino Burrini, finish seventh and eighth respectively.
