February 1963, Madonna di Campiglio
Two royal figures arrive in Madonna di Campiglio for the 14th edition of the 3Tre: Aga Khan is joined by Juan Carlos of Bourbon, the future King of Spain, attending the event as a spectator.
Germany’s Wolfgang Bartels wins the downhill on Pancugolo, while Austria’s Gerhard Nenning claims the giant slalom on Spinale. The closing slalom finally gives the Italian team something to celebrate: Pedroncelli takes victory and Senoner finishes third, redeeming what had until then been a disappointing 3Tre campaign for the home team.
