16 December 1985, Madonna di Campiglio (World Cup)
An unusually mild winter and a shortage of snow force the organisers to stage just one race: the slalom. International World Cup scheduling requirements will make this single-race format in Madonna di Campiglio the standard for the 3Tre in the years to come.
Once again, a Swede stands on the top step of the podium in the Canalone Miramonti slalom. This time, the honours go to Jonas Nilsson, who triumphs ahead of Bojan Križaj and Paul Frommelt.
The pre-race favourites, meanwhile, all fail to live up to expectations, from Stenmark and Girardelli to Petrović and De Chiesa.
