3Tre bib draw: Pinturault first down the Canalone Miramonti

Frenchman Alexis Pinturault will be the first athlete to face the Canalone Miramonti in the 68th 3Tre, to take place tomorrow, December 22nd, in Madonna di Campiglio.

The first public bib draw in two seasons, on Tuesday, December 21st in Piazza Sissi,  handed a great opportunity to the overall FIS Ski World Cup holder, who will look to improve his personal best in Madonna (5th place), and try to be the first #1 starter to win in Madonna since its return to the World Cup calendar in 2021.

Swiss Ramon Zenhausern will start behind him, while the number 3 bib went to Sebastian Foss-Solevåg, who finished second in Madonna twelve months ago. Bib number 4 for Henrik Kristoffersen, who has already succeeded 3 times at 3Tre, the last in 2020. Last year, as well as in 2015, the number 4 bib had brought him very good luck.

Starting after the Norwegian will be Clement Noel: the Frenchman won the first seasonal slalom in Val d’Isere, and is after his 10th World Cup win and the first at 3Tre.

Bib number 6 for Marco Schwarz, the Austrian holder of the Slalom World Cup, with two third places in Trentino to show in his palmares. Number 7 for the fellow Austrian Manuel Feller, solid in Alta Badia’s GS and certainly capable of big-time performance even among the rapid gates.

The home crowd is ready to root for Alex Vinatzer: the 21-year-old from Italy, third placed in 2020, will start with number 14.

With less than 24 hours to go to the most awaited show of Trentino’s winter, the Canalone Miramonti slope is in perfect shape, and the cold temperatures expected for the coming hours (-2° is the maximum temperature expected for Wednesday, under a sunny sky) promise to preserve the excellent work by slope director Adriano Alimonta and his team.

On Wednesday 22 December, the two runs of the 68th 3Tre are scheduled at 5.45pm and 8.45pm (CET). Only a few of over 3.200 tickets made available by the 3Tre committee are still available for purchase on the 3trecampiglio.com, only for the holders of a COVID pass obtained from vaccination or healing within the previous sixth months (Italy’s Green Pass Rafforzato).
