3Tre heads towards January 7th, 2026: FIS inspection officially kicks off the countdown

Seventy-two editions, skis always pointing downhill yet eyes lifted upwards. The legendary 3Tre Night Slalom in Madonna di Campiglio, Trentino, carries its history forward with the same determination the world’s best slalom skiers show when attacking the final wall of the Canalone Miramonti — urged on by the roar of an electric crowd.

On Wednesday, August 27th, FIS officials visited Madonna di Campiglio for the traditional summer course inspection, just a few months before the return of the 3Tre. The 72nd edition of the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup night slalom will take place on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, with the two runs scheduled for 17:45 and 20:45 CET, under the floodlights of the iconic slope.

“The 3Tre is the Mecca of slalom,” reiterated Markus Waldner. “Year after year, this race has upheld the highest technical and organizational standards, rewarded by a passionate audience and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Madonna di Campiglio consistently demonstrates the outstanding quality of its race staff, while also growing beyond the slopes with ambitious, internationally focused marketing and communications. That’s why the 3Tre remains a cornerstone in the draft World Cup calendar through the 2030/2031 season, which will be presented at the upcoming FIS meeting in Zurich.”

Markus Waldner was joined by Janez Hladnik (Men’s World Cup Technical Events Race Director), Massimo Rinaldi (representing the Italian Winter Sports Federation, FISI), and a delegation of the 3Tre Organising Committee led by President Lorenzo Conci. Together they echoed a hope shared by countless Italian fans: to finally see a successor to Giorgio Rocca on the top step of the Campiglio podium, two decades after his victory.

“It would be hugely important to see an Italian back on the podium — for the race, for the sport, and for the incredible Campiglio crowd, who truly deserve it. Even in the leaner years for Italian slalom, the fans have never failed to show their passion. Hearing them cheer for one of their own again, especially in an Olympic year for Italy, would be something special.”

“The positive feedback from FIS brings us even more energy for the journey ahead,” added 3Tre President Lorenzo Conci. “Being able to look further ahead allows us to invest in our growth, in infrastructure that makes the 3Tre ever more spectacular, and in renewing our Committee to carry this great heritage of skiing and our destination into the future.”

At the end of the inspection, the FIS delegation was greeted in the finish area by Roberto Failoni, Trentino’s Councillor for Tourism; Tullio Serafini and Matteo Bonapace, President and Director of the Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Board; and Bruno Felicetti, Director of Funivie Campiglio.

“The 3Tre is a symbol of pride for Trentino — in sport and beyond. It is also a unique opportunity to showcase our territory’s beauty and organizational excellence to the world, something the FIS itself acknowledges. On January 7th, we will witness another great spectacle, just one month before the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games,” commented Councillor Roberto Failoni.
