McGrath above the rest in 3Tre Night Race’s first run

Atle Lie McGrath clocked the fastest time in the first run of the 71st 3Tre, the AUDI FIS World Cup Night Slalom. The narrow course set by Norwegian head coach Nordlund, was tamed by McGrath, one of the stars of the Norwegian team.

McGrath mastered the wall of the Canalone Miramonti slope in 51.96, ahead of Swiss Loic Meillard (+0.62), Croatian Samuel Kolega (+0.65) and Austrian Manuel Feller (+0.76), fourth with bib number 1. German Linus Strasser finished the first run in fifth place (+0.76). On the other hand, three-time 3Tre winners Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway and Daniel Yule of Switzerland failed to live up to the expectations so far, as they sit in 9th and 18th respectively.

Olympic champion Clément Noel, Norway's Timon Haugan, Sweden's Kristoffer Jakobsen and defending champion Austrian Marco Schwarz all failed to finish the first run, as did Italian hope Alex Vinatzer

Despite the heavy snowfall of the last few days, the Canalone Miramonti lived up to its reputation and provided a fantastic slope for the first run of the night slalom. The weather conditions made life difficult for course director Adriano Alimonta's team, but the riders still found the perfect terrain to express themselves in Madonna di Campiglio.

The second run, set by Swiss head coach Matteo Joris, is scheduled for 20.45 CET
