Meillard and Yule set sights on 3tre as Swiss team trains in Garda Trentino

Summer has arrived in Madonna di Campiglio, with the last traces of snow giving way to alpine meadows beneath the Brenta Dolomites. But here, the anticipation for 3Tre never fades. With more than seven months to go until the 72nd edition of the Night Slalom — taking place on Wednesday 7 January 2026, with runs scheduled for 5:45pm and 8:45pm CET — attention is already shifting toward a high-stakes season, culminating in the return of the Winter Olympic Games to Italy.

A clear sign of the momentum comes from Garda Trentino, where the Swiss men’s slalom team has chosen to hold its summer training camp from Sunday 18 May. The team is led by Daniel Yule, three-time winner in Madonna, and Loïc Meillard, the reigning World Champion who finished second in Madonna last January. Alongside them are Luca Aerni, runner-up in the 2017 edition, Tanguy Nef, and Ramon Zenhäusern.

While waiting to return to snow, the athletes are sharpening their form with a mix of wingfoiling, cycling, and indoor workouts — all set against the backdrop of Garda Trentino’s landscapes and hospitality, an area with a strong strategic bound with Madonna di Campiglio.

“I’m always happy to be in Trentino, whether it’s winter or summer,” said Daniel Yule. “It’s got everything — mountains, lakes, nature, and incredible food. But for me, it’s also where I won my first race, and where my career changed. The 3Tre is my favourite event. Last year’s performance was disappointing, especially for me, but I feel strong again and I’m ready to bounce back. On 7 January, anyone chasing the Maglia Fulmine will have to go through me.”

Similar determination came from Loïc Meillard, World Champion in Saalbach 2025: “After several years of building, I finally made the podium in Campiglio last season. We trained here in Garda Trentino last summer — and it turned into the best season of my career. We’ve come back to continue on that path. The 3Tre is always a big test, and this year it’ll be a benchmark ahead of the Olympics. There’s still one step I haven’t taken...”

On Monday 19 May, the Swiss camp also welcomed a visit from 3Tre President Lorenzo Conci and Marketing Director Andrea Busignani. The two were guests at a meet-and-greet held at Surf Segnana in Torbole sul Garda, hosted by Oskar Schwazer, Director of Garda Dolomiti APT S.p.A., and Gianni Morandi, Mayor of Nago-Torbole.

“We have great admiration for the Swiss team, which has always shown appreciation for our work — including very positive feedback on last year’s 3Tre,” said Lorenzo Conci. “Over the years, we’ve built a close relationship, and their decision to return to Trentino, even in summer, only strengthens that bond. We’re already deep into preparations: it takes a full year to deliver the technical standards and warm welcome that the entire ski world, and its fans, now associate with 3Tre.”

The 72nd 3Tre will be the first major milestone of the men’s slalom season, setting the tone for a legendary series of races including Adelboden, Wengen, Kitzbühel, and Schladming, all leading up to the Olympic slalom in Bormio.

In the coming weeks, the 3Tre Committee will unveil the first updates for the 2026 edition, along with the opening date for online ticket sales.
