Bologna welcomes 3Tre on Tour with a trio of Olympic champions: Tomba, Gros and Razzoli

After Ingemar Stenmark in Stockholm, Piero Gros, Giuliano Razzoli, Ivano Edalini and Alberto Tomba were the protagonists of the 3Tre on Tour event in Bologna.

The promotional tour of the 70th 3Tre, the Italian FIS Ski Alpine World Cup Night Slalom, started under a lucky star. On December 22nd, Madonna di Campiglio will welcome the big names of the rapid gates giving the Men's FIS World Cup a great show. In the meantime, the World’s most important ski challenge is ready to start on Sunday with Sölden’s giant slalom, in Austria.

On Thursday, October 26th, 3Tre and Madonna di Campiglio returned to the Renzo Savini House Museum, in Bologna, welcomed by homeowners Lavinia and Benedetta Savini. The Italian night slalom event’s representatives met an audience passionate about ski and about a special destination like Madonna di Campiglio.

As usual in the 3Tre on Tour events, the ski superstars aroused enthusiasm. In fact, the Bologna ski fans chereed three winners of six 3Tre editions: Piero Gros (slalom 1972 and giant slalom 1974), Ivano Edalini (slalom 1986) and Alberto Tomba (slalom 1987, 1988 and 1995). In addition, Gros (Innsbruck 1976) and Tomba (Calgary 1988), together with another guest of the 3Tre on Tour, Giuliano Razzoli (Vancouver 2010) are the only three Italian slalom Olympic champions. 3Tre President Lorenzo Conci, and Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Board President Tullio Serafini also attended the promotional appointment in Bologna.

The responsible for the tradition and historical heritage of the 3Tre Team Paolo Luconi Bisti recalled the magic moments of the 3Tre legends: from Gros, the youngest ever winner in Madonna di Campiglio to Edalini’s triumph (the only win in the World Cup) and the Tomba-mania of the late 80’s. “It’s a long time since an Italian won the 3Tre: our hopes lie in Vinatzer, Gross and Razzoli”, said Alberto Tomba.

39 year-old Razzoli grazed the top 3 on the Canalone Miramonti slope, and he will still be going for it on December 22nd, despite the many injuries and physical problems characterizing his career. “If I win in Madonna this year, I retire from competitions”.

The 70th 3Tre FIS World Cup Night Slalom will take place in Madonna di Campiglio, on Friday, December 22nd. The two runs are scheduled at 17.45 and 20.45 CET respectively, and the tickets are available on 3trecampiglio.it.

Instead, the 3Tre on Tour will continue with the Milan stage, to be held on November 14th with another Italian guest star, Alex Vinatzer, the greatest Italian chance to break the 18-year spell in Madonna di Campiglio. Indeed, the last win of a home athlete dates back to 2005, with Giorgio Rocca.
