The lightning strikes again: 3Tre unveils the new “Maglia Fulmine” in Trento

The 3Tre Night Race returned to Trento, the birthplace of Italy’s longest-running alpine ski classic, for the final stop of the 3Tre on Tour. The tour has taken Madonna di Campiglio’s iconic slalom to major European cities including London, Milan, Oslo and Bologna. On Tuesday, December 16th, the historic headquarters of Cantine Ferrari Trento hosted an evening celebrating tradition and innovation, while officially launching the countdown to the 72nd edition of the Trentino event.

With just three weeks to go until the Night Race on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026 (first run at 18:00 CET, second run at 21:00 CET), the 3Tre Organising Committee unveiled the key highlights of the upcoming edition. Once again, 3Tre confirms its role as the opening event of the FIS World Cup’s traditional “month of slalom”. Following Madonna di Campiglio come the classic slaloms of Adelboden, Wengen, Kitzbühel and Schladming.

The Trento presentation was attended by institutional representatives, former champions and key stakeholders from Trentino’s sporting community, and was hosted by Matteo Lunelli, CEO of Ferrari Trento.

A NEW UYN MAGLIA FULMINE FOR THE 72ND 3TRE

In Trento, the spotlight was on the unveiling of the new Maglia Fulmine (Lightning Jersey), the iconic jersey awarded to the winner on the legendary Canalone Miramonti. Designed and produced by UYN at its headquarters in Asola, Mantua, the new jersey is the result of advanced textile research focused on performance, comfort and sustainability.

The garment features a blend of natural and bio-based fibres – kapok, Biolight, cashmere and eucalyptus – engineered to deliver lightness, softness and targeted thermal insulation. UYN’s CellSystem technology ensures selective thermoregulation by managing heat and moisture across different body zones, providing stability and comfort in demanding winter conditions. The new Maglia Fulmine reflects the spirit of the 3Tre tradition, continuously evolving through innovation.

3TRE EDUCATIONAL: BRINGING THE FIS WORLD CUP TO SCHOOLS

The event also marked the presentation of 3Tre Educational, a project coordinated by Giacomo Ferrari that brings the Madonna di Campiglio classic into schools across Trentino. Through workshops, creative competitions, seminars and work-based learning programmes, students explore the 3Tre as an expression of the region’s sporting, cultural and professional heritage. The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between young people and their territory, highlighting the skills, organisation and expertise required to host a major international sporting event.

The Trento event also celebrated the collaboration between 3Tre and the Trentino Art Academy. Students from the academy were invited to design iconic 3Tre artworks, later transformed into prizes and installations. The collaboration will continue ahead of the 73rd edition, scheduled for December 22nd, 2026, when Trentino Art Academy students will design the new 3Tre trophy.

ITALIAN SLALOM TARGETS A HISTORIC WIN

Meanwhile, anticipation is building in Madonna di Campiglio, fuelled by the strong early-season performances of the Italian slalom team. The last Italian victory on the Canalone Miramonti dates back to December 2005, when Giorgio Rocca claimed the win. In an Olympic season leading towards the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Games, Alex Vinatzer and Tommaso Sala – fourth and seventh respectively in Val d’Isère – will be aiming to end that long wait.

The Italian pair will face fierce competition from Norway’s Kristoffersen, Haugan and McGrath; Brazil’s Braathen Pinheiro; France’s Noël; Austria’s Schwarz, Gstrein and Feller; Great Britain’s Ryding; Switzerland’s Yule and Meillard; and defending champion Bulgaria’s Popov.
